The School of Law

The main tasks of the School of Law are to provide teaching, to carry out research and communication. The School’s research is based on the fundamental legal disciplines, namely in the fields of the law of obligations and land law (‘property law’), family and succession law, constitutional law, administrative law, international and EU law, procedural law, criminal law, criminology, jurisprudence, legal history and legal sociology. The School provides courses in all these disciplines for the Bachelors degree. A large number of courses are then developed and supplemented for the Masters degree.

The School of Law is primarily financed under the Finance Act.

The School of Law puts great emphasis on maintaining and developing a high academic level by international measures. In respect of research, it is the School’s policy to make the necessary resources available to senior researchers to enable them to maintain and develop their connections with foreign research institutions and international organisations.

In respect of teaching, the School of Law participates actively in a number of Nordic and European exchange agreements and programmes.
