Dear Everyone,
Below, there is information about
1) Program for Departmental meeting
2) Course on Supervision
3) New management team
4) Vice Head of Department
Re 1) Program for Departmental meeting Friday.
11:15 in U1 – Presentation on the state of affairs in the Department
12:00 – Lunch in PlugIn
13:00 – guided tours (p.s. there are still job vacancies for local guides)
I would like members of the former entities to mix at the lunch. Therefore, I have asked for four different colors of napkins. Please pick a seat according to the following color codes:
Color of napkins Former employment
____________ ________________
Green napkins: Department of Economics
Black napkins: NCRR
Blue napkins: Department of Business Studies
Purple napkins: School of Economics and Management
Re 2) Participation in course on supervision.
Every tenured faculty member must at some point participate in the course on supervision (see here) offered by the “Center for læring og uddannelse.” This is a decision made by the Dean. To increase the motivation, if not already in top, the Department pays a onetime supplement of 20,000 kr for participation in the next round of the course. Please let Margit Sommer (msommer@econ.au.dk) know soon if you want to participate. Note, this far the course is only offered in Danish but will in the future be offered in English.
Re 3) New management team.
To take care of the daily administration of the Department, I have formed a management team. In addition to Lene Enevoldsen (Director of Secretariat) and myself, I have appointed the following three VIPs:
Kim Allan Andersen (talent development), Kristina Risom Jespersen (studies) and Philipp Schröder (knowledge transfer)
In parenthesis is a working title of the areas of responsibility.
My intention is to delegate full responsibility on various clearly defined areas such that you know who to approach and such that decisions can be made by that person.
Re 4) Vice Head of Department.
I have appointed Torben M. Andersen as the Vice Head of the Department. The Vice Head is the stand-in for me if I am away for an extended period of time (no plans to be so). The Vice Head will not be part of the daily administration of the Department. Instead I envision the Vice Head to act as an Ombudsman in the Department (I certainly intend to run a proper administration but it never harms, I believe, to have institutionalized an extra mechanisms to enforce such behavior).
Cheers, Allan
